Making Disciples Of All Nations
The core mission of the church--not just Brook Hills, we're talking the "whole church" here--is to "make disciples of all nations." That's much bigger than the Sunday morning praise, worship and teaching we often soak-up and regard as the central role of church in our lives.
At Brook Hills, we believe that the church is called to something bigger than ourselves. God desires us to make disciples of all nations. Few of us may realize that the greatest numerical missionary success in the church's history took place in the 20th century. In 1900 there were ten million Christians in Africa, while in 2000 there were 360 million! God is at work in the world and we can be a vital part of it.
Jesus told ordinary people to go and make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20) and He says the same to ordinary people today. Jesus doesn't only call the gifted speakers or brilliant preachers to make disciples. He calls each and every one of his disciples to spread the Good News. You don't have to be Billy Graham oto fulfill this command. If you are a disciple of Christ, then Jesus is commanding you to make disciples.
Why We're About The Whole World
The Global Disciple-Making Ministry at Brook HIlls has three main purposes:
- To proivde an external expression of our internal truths through short-term mission efforts. We provide logistical and ministerial support and promote the disciple-making strategy of Christ and the strengthening of disciple-making relationships.
- To create an experiential curriculum, using short-term mission efforts as a tool of spirital development. We set these efforts up in such a way as to develop global Christ-followers, able to effectively serve in all cultures and environments.
- To create a new global disciple-making network of bases that will work to unify and fulfill a practical 10-year strategy called "The Decade of Disciple-Making". This makes simultaneous global impact possible (Acts 1:8).
Ingredients of World Impact
The Global Disciple-Making Ministry believes four basic ingredients will lead to world impact:
- Each member must embrace the biblical fact that they are to use their one and only life to impact the entire world through the disciple-making example of Christ.
- We must create and implement a practical strategy to see that impact occur.
- We must have an understanding of true multiplication ministry.
- We must produce a multi-lingual, reproductive curriculum to ensure qualitative reproduction.
